The Conquest Centre, St Leonards-on-Sea

The Conquest Centre provides day care for adults with learning difficulties. Phases 1 and 2 of the project consisted of the complete refurbishment
of the existing day-care centre with new suspended ceilings, decorations, lighting and flooring.
Phase 3 consisted of a new single storey building within the grounds
to replace an existing temporary building and provide ‘drop-in’ facilities.
The roof and external walls of the new single storey building were fabricated off site using insulated panel construction. The pre-fabricated panels enabled the main superstructure to be erected in five weeks. The insulation used was made from recycled newspaper and far exceeded the requirements
of the Building Regulations.
