As
a practice we are taking positive steps toward more sustainable construction.
Our team is also mindful of the Egan Principles of utilising more offsite
fabrication and Modern Methods of Construction. In our recent projects we
have investigated SIPS and panelised construction and have used this method
of construction at St Michaels Primary School, Chatham where SIPS panels
were utilised on the roof, enabling a watertight structure to be achieved
rapidly. Panelised construction panels have also been used at the new Drop-in
Centre at the Conquest Centre in St Leonards.
We recognise and are committed to developing a green approach. We are members
of the Green Register and TRADA and staff regularly attend seminars and
training in sustainable design.
Burns Guthrie and Partners are committed to advances in IT with all staff
using the latest version of AutoCAD for drafting. Three workstations are
dedicated to AutoCAD Architecture. We use 3D software (Sketchup) as a visualisation
design tool and to explain or illustrate our intentions to our clients and
planners. For the future we are working to develop a practice extranet. |
